Free & Reduced Meal Application and Information for 2011-12
How does National School Lunch Program work?
♦ High quality Breakfasts or Morning Nutrition Breaks and Lunches are available to all students.
♦ Some children pay the regular price, but children from families with low and moderate incomes qualify for free or reduced price meals.
♦ The maximum charge for reduced price is only 40¢ for lunch and 30¢ for breakfast!
♦ Children who qualify for free or reduced price meals are not publicly identified in any way.
Why apply for Free or Reduced Price Meals?
♦ Eating at school helps make family food budgets, and money needed for everything else, go further.
♦ Healthy meals and snacks are a guaranteed part of every day – from breakfast in every school building to afterschool snacks in the Clubhouse.
♦ Participation through Free and Reduced programming helps the District through increased funding for special programs like SAGE, Title I and E-rate.

How does a child qualify for Free or Reduced Meals?
There are three ways to qualify:
1) If a family currently receives Food Stamps or assistance through Wisconsin Works (W-2), the child is eligible for free school meals.
2) Children who are migrant, homeless or a runaway automatically qualify for free meals.
3) If a household’s total income is below certain amounts, a child can eat free or at a very reduced price. The school determines who qualifies based on a completed application and guidelines issued by the State each year.
An application may not be needed at all, depending on what other public benefits a family receives. Also, applications are not needed for migrant, homeless and runaway children.
Applications may be made at any time during the school year. Simply contact any of our school offices for an application or click on the link below.
