Amery High School Goals
2011-2012

Goal #1

By September of 2012, eighty (80) percent of the graduating class of 2011 will be enrolled as incoming freshmen in a post-secondary school for continued education.

 

Goal #2

By August of 2012, all Amery High School students will be at or above the credit sufficient number for their year in high school (Seniors–28, Juniors-20, Sophomores-14, Freshmen-7)

 

Goal #3

By June of 2012, Amery High School will increase by 10% the grade point averages of all 2011-2012 male sophomore students, by 7.5% the grade point averages of all male junior students, and by 5% the grade point averages of all male senior students.

Amery
High School Goals

Goal #1

  • Year long, team taught math, in the form of pre-Algebra, will be staffed and taught as the course of study for struggling math students during their freshmen and sophomore years.
  • Progress monitoring and Response to Intervention practices will take place in the area of math - Workshop opportunities will be provided to regular and special education staff members.
  • All regular and special education sophomore students will take part in a WKCE test preparation session prior to the WKCE.
  • All IEPs, 504 plans, and at risk plans will be followed to ensure that all necessary modifications to students’ academic programming are being made
  • All required modifications will be made for special education students and at risk students on the WKCE
  • All students who demonstrate in their academic achievement at risk needs will have at risk plans specifically developed for their needs.
  • All regular education and special education students will enter into a performance contract for the fall of 2010 WKCE.
  • Amery High School will continue to provide a comprehensive curriculum consists both of upper-level rigorous coursework, and, at the same time, coursework which seeks to target the needs of students not seeking to take upper level courses.
  • All students will meet with a member of the guidance department to chart a course for their high school studies in preparation for their attendance at a post-secondary school of their choice – This will occur throughout a student’s high school career
  • All classroom instructors will write goals for their own instruction which upholds the tenet of preparing all students for a post-secondary school experience.
  • Each academic department will author goals which seek to provide the best of instruction for students resulting in an increase in post-secondary opportunities for students.
  • Career and technical education classes will utilize career clusters with students to enhance their knowledge of college preparedness and the selection of a post-secondary career.
  • All Amery High School graduates will be tracked through the National Clearinghouse to determine which students leave AHS and arrive at a post-secondary school, and, further, which of these students complete their education at a post-secondary school
Goal #2
By August of 2012, all Amery High School students will be at or above the credit sufficient number for their year in high school (Seniors–28, Juniors-20, Sophomores-14, Freshmen-7.0)
  • Amery High School guidance and Amery Middle School guidance will meet with the administration of each building prior to the start of the school year to review the needs of incoming freshmen. The purpose of this meeting will be to clearly identify the needs of all incoming freshmen students.
  • Amery High School guidance and administration will meet with Amery High School staff prior to the beginning of the school year 2010-2011, and each year thereafter, to share the academic and social needs of the incoming at risk freshmen students.
  • The Teacher Assistance Program team will meet with all credit deficient students throughout the school year to keep apprised of the academic, social, and emotional progress of Amery High School students
  • At risk academic programs will be set up for all struggling Amery High School students. These programs will specifically address the academic and social needs of each at risk student.
  • Amery High School administration will consider academic programs which ease the transition of students into high school as freshmen. 
  • At risk meetings will be held monthly to discuss the needs of struggling students – This committee with consist guidance staff, special education staff, and administration
  • Differentiation of instruction will be required of all high school instructors to best target the needs of high school students of varying ability and motivation levels
Goal #3
By May of 2011, Amery High School will reduce by 10% the performance achievement gap between students with disabilities and those without. In addition, a 10% reduction in the achievement gap on the WKCE, between male and females students, will be made. Such achievement will be measured in all subject areas, on the WKCE as defined by students who achieve advanced or proficient on the WKCE in the fall of 2010 as compared to that fall of 2009.

Amery High School Goals
Goal #1
 
By August of 2011, all Amery High School students (who are enrolled their entire high school career in Amery, and who are not fifth year special education students) will be at or above the credit sufficient number for their year in high school.
 
Seniors                   20.0 credits            end of junior year
Juniors                    14.0 credits            end of sophomore year
Sophomores            7.0 credits              end of freshmen year
Freshmen                5.5 credits              end of term three of freshmen year
Freshmen                3.5 credits              end of term two of freshmen year
  • Amery High School guidance and Amery Middle School guidance will meet with the administration of each building prior to the start of the freshmen year of every school year. The purpose of these meetings will be to clearly identify all incoming at risk students.
  • Amery High School guidance and administration will meet with Amery High School staff prior to the beginning of the school year 2009-2010, and each year thereafter, to share the academic and social needs of the incoming at risk freshmen students.
  • Amery High School guidance and administration will meet with at risk, incoming freshmen and their parent(s)/guardian(s) during the first two weeks of their freshmen year in the school year 2009-2010. This will occur for every incoming freshmen class
  • The Amery High School principal will meet with all incoming, at risk freshmen and all credit deficient sophomore and junior students during the first week of every term they are credit deficient. These meetings will occur every term of every school year.
  • The Teacher Assistance Team will meet with all credit deficient students throughout each and every school year they are enrolled and in attendance at Amery High School.
  • At risk academic programs will be set up for all struggling Amery High School students. These programs will specifically address the academic and social needs of each at risk student.
  • At the first staff meeting in each term Amery High School guidance and administration will present the at risk plans for all at risk students to the staff. Addressing these needs in the classroom will be mandatory.
  • Amery High School administration will consider programs which ease the transition of students into high school as freshmen. A suitable and universal transition program will be adopted by the end of the school year 2009-2010. 
Goal #2
 
By May of 2010, Amery High School will be ranked in the top 15% of Wisconsin high schools in all subject areas and overall on the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination (WKCE) as given in the fall of 2009.
  •  All regular education and special education sophomore students will go through a test preparation session the week prior to the WKCE. Test preparation, in a one half day of school format, will be conducted by Amery High School instructors.
  • All sophomore students will enter into a performance contract for the WKCE. Amery High School administration and the student will establish a goal for performance on the fall of 2009 WKCE. Students who score advanced in all subject areas or meet their goal on three or more of the subject areas will be able to opt out of a fourth term final exam.
  • All students who are struggling academically at Amery High School will be referred to the Teacher Assistance Program. These students will have at risk plans specifically designed for their academic and social needs.
  • WKCE testing will be carried out in small groups over the course of six testing dates. One of these groups will include just those students who have struggled on the WKCE during fourth and eighth grade. 
  • WKCE testing will always take place first block of each test day. Preceding testing on each test day will be a breakfast break.
Goal #3
 
By May of 2010, Amery High School will further reduce by 5% the gap in performance achievement between students with disabilities and students without disabilities, in all subject areas, on the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination (WKCE) as defined by students who achieve advanced or proficient on the WKCE in the fall of 2009 as compared to the WKCE of the fall of 2008.

  • Teach teaching, combining regular and special education staff, will occur in all core subject areas.
  • Progress monitoring and Response to Intervention workshop opportunities will be provided to regular and special education staff members.
  • All regular and special education sophomore students will take part in a WKCE test preparation session prior to the WKCE.
  • All IEPs will be followed to ensure that all necessary modifications to students’ academic programming are being made.
  • All students who demonstrate in their academic achievement at risk needs will have at risk plans specifically developed for their needs.
  • All regular education and special education students will enter into a performance contract for the fall of 2009 WKCE.

 

2008-2009
Amery High School Goals

Goal #1
By August of 2011, all Amery High School students will be at or above the credit sufficient number for their year in high school (Seniors-20; Juniors-14; Sophomores-8, Freshmen – 4 by end of term two and 6 by end of term three)
 
Goal #2
By May of 2009, Amery High School will be ranked in the top 15% of Wisconsin high schools in all subject areas and overall on the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination (WKCE) as given in the fall of 2008.
  
Goal #3
By May of 2009, Amery High School will further reduce by 5% the gap in performance achievement between students with disabilities and students without disabilities, in all subject areas, on the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination (WKCE) as defined by students who achieve advanced or proficient on the WKCE in the fall of 2008 as compared to the WKCE of the fall of 2007.
