In April of 2017, the voters who reside in the School District of Amery approved a recurring (occurs each year) $1.9 million addition to the budget. This is where the $700,000 allocated for maintenance needs comes from. The remainder of this money has been used each year for additional staffing, curriculum, and technology needs just as it was intended to be when this referendum was passed.
In the last five years, the money from the April of 2017 referendum has addressed the following maintenance items: Upgraded the high school family and consumer education classroom, upgraded the entryway and hallways of the elementary school, repaired walls at the elementary and high school, repaired the roof of the middle school, replaced the lights in the auditorium, added new public address systems and clocks at all buildings, and replaced the nearly 50 year old gym floor at the high school.
