COVID Guidance
DPI suggests that schools not quarantine any students (regardless of vaccination status) and recommends emphasis be on sending ill students home from school, keeping ill students from attending school, testing ASAP to determine if a student is positive for COVID and follow CDC COVID isolation timelines including the best practice of wearing a mask if returning before day 11 (day 6-10). Additionally, DPI stresses the importance of improving ventilation, practicing good hand and cough etiquette, and promoting vaccination for all vaccine preventable diseases. Adherence to social distancing is not an expectation of DPI nor is contact tracing. As noted in the DPI guidance, these practices are not public health recommendations but rather recommendations supporting the operations of schools while keeping students and staff as safe as possible.
