Mrs. Lorna Coleman ~ English teacher at Amery High School
I began my teaching career at Amery High School in 1986 after earning my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota with a major in English Education and a minor in Speech Communication. Some of the English courses I typically teach at Amery High School include College Preparatory English, English 10, Drama, and Advanced Independent Reading Workshop.
The mission of my high school English classroom is to develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening abilities as well as to foster students’ creative and critical thinking skills needed for post-secondary education and employment.
My family consists of my husband, Larry; our son, Dustin; our daughter-in-law, Liene; our grandchildren, Kaiva, Lilija, Evita, and Zigmunds; and our daughter, Breanna. We also own a golden retriever named Macey.
Some of my favorite activities include baking, relaxing at the lake, watching live theater, reading, traveling, motorcycling, cheering for the Green Bay Packers and the Amery Warriors, and most importantly, spending time with my family!
