Supporting Student Success Through Title I
The School District of Amery is committed to providing every student with high-quality instruction and the support needed to succeed. Through federal Title I, Part A funding, our district provides additional instructional resources, academic interventions, and learning opportunities to help students reach their full potential.
Title I, Part A is a federally funded program authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
The School District of Amery operates a Schoolwide Title I program. This means that all students are eligible to receive additional academic support based on their individual learning needs. Our schoolwide approach allows us to strengthen instruction, provide targeted interventions, and support student achievement through a comprehensive system of academic services.
Parents' Right to Know
The School District of Amery values strong partnerships with families and is committed to transparency regarding our educational programs. Under federal Title I, Part A requirements, parents and guardians have the right to receive information about:
- The professional qualifications of their child's teachers and instructional paraprofessionals.
- Notification if their child is taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet applicable state certification or licensure requirements.
- Their child's academic progress and performance on state assessments.
- School and district performance through Wisconsin's accountability systems.
Professional Qualifications of Teachers
Parents and guardians of students attending schools receiving Title I, Part A funding have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of their child's classroom teachers.
Upon request, the district will provide information about:
- Licensure and Certification: Whether the teacher meets Wisconsin's licensing requirements for the grade level and subject area they teach.
- Emergency or Provisional Licensure: Whether the teacher is teaching under a status through which state licensing requirements have been waived.
- Educational Background: The teacher's college major, degrees earned, and additional graduate certifications or degrees, including their fields of study.
Qualifications of Instructional Paraprofessionals
Instructional paraprofessionals support student learning by working alongside classroom teachers to provide additional academic assistance.
As a Schoolwide Title I program, instructional paraprofessionals must meet applicable federal and state qualification requirements. These may include:
- Completing at least two years of study at an institution of higher education.
- Earning an associate degree or higher.
- Demonstrating competency through an approved assessment or other state-approved qualification pathway.
Parents and guardians may request information regarding the qualifications of paraprofessionals providing instructional support to their children.
Notification of Teacher Qualifications
Federal law requires Title I schools to notify parents and guardians in a timely manner if their child has been assigned to, or taught for four or more consecutive weeks by, a teacher who does not meet applicable state certification or licensure requirements for their assigned grade level or subject area.
Student Academic Progress and Assessment Results
Families have the right to receive information about their child's academic progress and achievement.
The School District of Amery communicates student learning through classroom assessments, progress reports, report cards, and state assessment results.
Parents and guardians receive information about their child's performance on applicable Wisconsin state assessments, including achievement in English language arts and mathematics.
These results help families and educators collaborate to identify student strengths, address learning needs, and celebrate academic growth.
School and District Accountability Reports
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) publishes annual school and district accountability reports that provide information about academic achievement, student growth, and school performance.
