FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) - The FAFSA application typically opens online every year on October 1. Students and parent(s)/guardian(s) are encouraged to create their FSA ID (federal student aid identification) in advance of October and may do so online.

College Goal Wisconsin Offers Free Help with applying for College Financial Aid
College Goal Wisconsin is affiliated with a national event that provides free information and assistance to families who need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) the federally required form for students seeking financial aid, such as grants and loans. Completing the FAFSA is the first and most important step in qualifying for aid to help pay for college. Wisconsin students can get free help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at College Goal Wisconsin events held throughout the state.
Financial aid professionals and other educators volunteer at the event to help students and their families complete the FAFSA. Anyone who is planning to pursue a postsecondary education should complete the FAFSA. That includes high school seniors, continuing college students, transfer students, and adult students considering pursuing higher education.
The FAFSA is the form that must be submitted to be considered for federal and state financial aid including grants and loans.
